After much deliberation, Matilda settled on a seat towards the back. “Perfect,” she thought. “I’ll have plenty of legroom, and if the performance is boring, I can always pretend I’m watching a movie.”

As the lights dimmed and the overture began, Matilda realized she had made a grave mistake. The person in front of her was an avid opera fan who insisted on standing up and cheering after every aria. The man behind her was a notorious snorer, and the couple next to her couldn’t stop whispering about the plot.
